If a book fails to get my attention in the first 4 chapters. I put it away. Or give it away. I'm getting sick and tired of you doing this. Linda wrote: 'Hello Mary, I have read all of this series. Nicely said, Kate. Kendra wrote: 'Mary, shush. Grow up. Attempting to stifle discussion on this board is childish.

If you like the books say why. I have stated why I did not like Left Behind. I thought the writing was so juvenile as to be laughable.

Since the writer s churned out around a book per month, they obviously did not spend much time on their craft. Should I report YOU? Pardon me, Mary, but if you'll notice I posted in several groups long before you. You call me childish, but you are the one who refuses to let it go. I'm not going to let you browbeat me or anyone else just to be nice. That's not how the world works. I'm human, I'm imperfect to be sure, but that doesn't mean that I'll just stand by and let you say things about others - and me, to boot.

I have no intention of browbeating you. It would be too easy. I'm getting sick of this. Mary, for the last time, could you just stop with your downing books? Kendra, stop acting victimized. No one is a victim here. Both of you are acting childish and immature. Both of you get over it.

Katelyn wrote: 'I'm getting sick of this. Both of you are acting childish and immatu Do you think the subject matter makes them off-limits for debate? It is not a public relations board. I am on a number of debates about other books on this board and we disagree all of the time. Sometimes I defend a book and sometimes I criticize it. However, I have not been subjected to the type of vitriol on most of those other threads as I have here. Not a Christian, but I love apocalypse stories.

The Omen movies, Rosemary's Baby, anything with a good Satan character or end time prophecy. I recommend the graphic novel series Armageddon Quest as an intelligent handling of the topic.

The author did a ton of research on the secular history of the Book of Revelation and depicts morally complex characters even though the story is a fantasy comic set in modern times.

Left Behind on the other hand has a comic book literacy level and one dimensional characters acting out a cartoon script based on a very narrow interpretation of its authors bible. If you liked the DaVinci Code then bad prose probably doesn't bother you and you might like this series too.

The Anti-Christ is conveniently Romanian so you can imagine him having an accent like Dracula. For my money it was a 'so bad it's good' experience. But I got my copies for 10 cents in thrift stores.

Get the free download if you're curious but be warned that the sexist and homophobic politics of the authors are not hidden. It's not aggressively hateful but it does point fingers as you would expect evangelical authors would. I am a Christian, but no one has to agree that this series of books is for everyone. It is not. Some like it and others hate it. To each thier own Books are for reading pleasure and discussion.

Books make people think about things in a new light. By the way.. Fiction is not based on absolute facts
